The American Russian Theatre Ensemble Laboratory (ARTEL), based in Los Angeles, CA, will be presenting “Russian absurdist comedy at its most illogical, violent, sad and hilarious” inspired by Russian writer Danil Kharms. Kharms was an absurdist writer who found himself on the wrong side of the Soviet government in 1930s. He eventually died in a Soviet psychiatric hospital – but not before leaving behind a substantial body of work that is today much celebrated in both Russia and the West. Join ARTEL for this “clown-punk” production in June!
